Hyundai Smart Sense.

With Hyundai Smart Sense, our cutting-edge Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, you have a comprehensive range of the very latest safety and driving assist features available to you for added peace of mind. The following glossary will help you to find out more about the various features.

Driving Safety.

Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA).

Enjoy the safety of automatic braking to help avoid collisions. FCA stops your car fast, even if you’re distracted. Utilising radar and/ or the front camera, the system scans the road ahead and alerts you to slowing or stopped vehicles, cyclists or pedestrians in your path – and automatically applies full braking power if you don’t react in time.

Basic Function.

FCA alerts you to slowing or stopped vehicles, cyclists or pedestrians in your path – and automatically applies full braking power if you don’t react in time.

Junction Turning (FCA-JT).

To protect you when turning left at an intersection, this system assists with emergency braking if there is a risk of collision with an oncoming vehicle.

Junction Crossing (FCA-JC).

Senses sideways-approaching vehicles at intersections and junctions and automatically assists with emergency braking if there is a risk of collision.

Lane-Change Side (FCA-LS).

When changing lanes, FCA automatically assists with avoidance steering if there is a risk of collision with a preceding vehicle in the next lane.

Lane-Change Oncoming (FCA-LO).

When overtaking on a two lane road, FCA automatically assists with avoidance steering if there is a risk of collision with an oncoming vehicle.

Junction Turning (FCA-JT).

To protect you when turning left at an intersection, this system assists with emergency braking if there is a risk of collision with an oncoming vehicle.

Lane Following Assist (LFA).

When activated, it keeps the car centered in its lane at speeds between 0-180 km/h on motorways and city streets.

Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA).

Warns when a vehicle is in your blind spot. If you begin to change lanes, applies differential braking to move the car back to original centered position.

Exiting a parallel parking spot .

When exiting a parallel parking spot and there is a risk of collision with a rear side vehicle, BCA automatically assists with emergency braking.

Blind Spot Collision Warning (BCW).

Warns you with audio and visual alerts when a vehicle is detected in your blind spot and you begin to change lanes.

Safe Exit Warning (SEW).

Detects vehicles approaching from behind, and provides you with visual and audio warnings, so that passengers can exit the vehicle when it is safe.

Safe Exit Assist (SEA).

Detects vehicles approaching from behind, warns you and temporarily locks first and second-row doors, so passengers can only exit when it is safe.

Rear Occupant Alert (ROA).

Ultrasonic sensors monitor the rear seats. As the driver exits the vehicle, an in-dash message pops up to check the back.

Rear Seat Alert.

The vehicle remembers if the rear doors were opened before you drove off. When you finish your drive, a message then pops up in the cluster accompanied by a warning tone to check the rear seat.

Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA).

Reads traffic signs using the front camera and warns if you are driving over the speed limit. Adjusts speed to match the speed limit when activated.

Driver Attention Warning (DAW).

DAW displays the driver’s attention level while driving. Provides a warning when signs of driver inattentiveness are detected, and recommends a rest if needed.

Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM).

When a turn signal is used, the view of that side of your Hyundai is shown in the centre cluster for top visibility and zero blind spots.

High Beam Assist (HBA).

Detects vehicles and automatically switches to low beam. When no more vehicles are detected, it reactivates the high beams, maximising your range of vision.

Driving Convenience.

Smart Cruise Control (SCC).

More safety and less stress. Maintains a set distance to the vehicle ahead, automatically reducing or increasing speed to your pre-set limit. Smart Cruise Control is able to sense when any preceding vehicles have slowed down or stopped and, in response, adjust your Hyundai’s speed to keep a safe distance.  When equipped with Stop and Go, SCC can even put your vehicle back in motion after it has stopped.

Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control (NSCC).

Utilises information from the navigation system to help you drive at a safe speed on the highway. Also, if you the set speed to the current speed limit on the highway during NSCC operation, the set speed changes automatically whenever the posted speed limit changes.

Curve Zone.

In a highway curved section, the speed is automatically reduced appropriately before entering the curve. When leaving the curve, the speed is returned to the previous setting.

Lane Following Assist (LFA).

Keeps you centred and safer. When activated, LFA keeps the car centred in its lane on highways and city streets.

Highway Driving Assist (HDA).

Helps maintain a set distance and speed from the vehicle ahead when driving on a highway and helps centre the vehicle in the lane, even through a curve.

Highway Driving Assist II (HDA II).

Cutting-edge autonomous driving. Level II autonomous safety technology, which controls speed and distance and assists you when changing lanes.

Leading Vehicle Departure Alert (LVDA).

This clever feature for city driving alerts the driver when the vehicle in front departs from an idle state, like at a stoplight or in a traffic jam.

Parking Safety.

Rear View Monitor (RVM).

For safer parking, the situation in the rear of the vehicle is shown on the centre touchscreen when you shift into R or press the Parking/View button.

Surround View Monitor (SVM).

Tight parking garage? No problem. The surround view monitor gives you a 360-degree view of the area to make manoeuvring confined spaces easy and safer.

Parking Distance Warning (PDW).

Parking made easier. Proximity sensors in the front and rear bumpers warn you if you're too close so you can avoid scratches and park safer.

Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning (RCCW).

Detects and alerts you when cross-traffic vehicles are passing the rear of the vehicle, while backing out of perpendicular parking spaces.

Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA).

When reversing out of areas, the system warns you if vehicles are approaching from the side or behind and then assists with emergency braking.

Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist Reverse (PCA-R).

When reversing, if pedestrians or objects are detected in the rear, the system alerts you of a potential collision and will apply the brakes if a collision is imminent.

Parking Convenience.

Remote Smart Parking Assist Entry (RSPA Entry).

Now can remotely back into and drive forward out of a parking spot at the touch of a button on the smart key – from outside the vehicle.

Remote Smart Parking Assist Remote/Smart (RSPA Remote/Smart).

Remotely enter or exit a parking spot from outside the vehicle. Works for both parallel and perpendicular parking via a button on the smart key.
